Litecoin mining - Core vs Socket

During me research of CPU litecoin mining, I run couple test considering is it better to have more sockets with less cores or less sockets with more cores?

So I run a few tests.

Server is HP DL 585 G5 running ESXi. I run test on CentOS 6.3 x64 with different variations of 8 vCPU.

So here it goes:

total:4*2=8 cores

So by looking at this results it is clearly better to have more cores per socket.




But letter same day I run minerd again with 4 sockets and 2 cores per socket I get these results:

So I don't know what to think now.
