Installation of Litecoin cpuminer on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS and Ubuntu 13.04 in 5 minutes!!!

Suppose you already installed Ubuntu server with minimal packages. It is wise to install openssh server but it is not necessary.

Step are:

1. Download pooler-cpuminer-2.3.2.tar.gz. I downloaded it from here

http://sourceforge.net/projects/cpuminer/files/

2. Unpack

#cd location_of_file
#ls
# tar xzvf pooler-cpuminer-2.3.2.tar.gzcpuminer-2.3.2/
cpuminer-2.3.2/compat/
cpuminer-2.3.2/compat/jansson/
cpuminer-2.3.2/compat/jansson/jansson.h
cpuminer-2.3.2/compat/jansson/value.c
.

.
.
# cd cpuminer-2.3.2/
# ls
aclocal.m4  compat    config.guess  configure.ac  cpuminer-config.h.in  example-cfg.json  Makefile.am  missing     README        scrypt-x64.S  sha2.c      util.c
AUTHORS     compat.h  config.sub    COPYING       depcomp               INSTALL           Makefile.in  NEWS        scrypt-arm.S  scrypt-x86.S  sha2-x64.S
ChangeLog   compile   configure     cpu-miner.c   elist.h               install-sh        miner.h      nomacro.pl  scrypt.c      sha2-arm.S    sha2-x86.S
3. Before continue install neccesery packages

#apt-get install libcurl4-openssl-dev make python-dev
4. Compile, make, install

# ./configure;make;make installchecking build system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking host system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking target system type... i686-pc-linux-gnu
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for a thread-safe mkdir -p... /bin/mkdir -p

.
.
.

5. Test if it OK

# minerd --help
Usage: minerd [OPTIONS]
Options:
-a, --algo=ALGO       specify the algorithm to use
.

.
.

If you see this then your miner is ready for mining.

6. Run miner
# minerd -o scrypt -r 1 -t 1 -s 6 -o http://URL:PORT -u your_username.1 -p 1
[2014-03-26 12:57:45] 1 miner threads started, using 'scrypt' algorithm.

It realy takes less than 5 minutes to install this if everything goes well.
